1. What do you use your carrier for? Name all the activities you use it for (ALL activities).
Fleet support by, Drawing fire (can tank 6 BS), by remote CAPITAL armor&shield repping. Tactical offensive support,,, taking out enemy ships by using specific wings of fighters that are tailored to the target ships (Devs are welcome to poke around on my ship if they want). Not used for transport, I have a phoenix that does that.
2. How much support do you feel you should need when you field your carrier for combat when going against a gang of 3? A gang of 5? A gang of 10? A gang of 50?
I tend to like at least 2-3 other BS with me when I go into battle. Smaller ships do not make much difference to me except to take out tacklers... which I have little drones for.
3. Do you think you should be able to go 1 vs 5 and win? How about 1 v 10? In other words, how many people do you believe you should be able to kill alone taking ship types into consideration. How many BS/BC's/Cruisers/Etc?
The easy, almost cheating answer is simple,, it should be isk -vs- isk. That is, I am in a 1.2 billion isk ship, I should be able to go up agains 1.2 billion isk worth of other ships and stand a chance at winning. However, there should be a bit of a rock-paper-scissors secenario here too. Dreads should be able to eat Carrier alive. Carriers should be able to tear each other up pretty badly too.
4. Do you believe that you should be able to kill a large amount of ships simply because you spent a lot of money and skill time for the ship, regardless of it's designed role (this does not just include carriers)?
Risk -vs- reward. So, yes, absolutely. However, this only applies so long as there is risk. Motherships in low sec smartbombing shuttles is NOT a good example of this as Moms cannot be scrammed.
5. Do you believe carriers have too little (solo) firepower, too much, or just enough?
Just right. Maybe a little light against other capital ships. Maybe a little light against smaller ships.
6. What do you believe a carriers role is?
Just like the traditional RL carriers. Support and offensive. The ultimate war tool. They should be the most powerful ship in the universe,, killable easily only by other carriers and Dreadnaughts.
7. Do you believe the carrier achieves this role through it's current abilities?
Yes, it is pretty good right now.
8. What would you change about the carrier if this drone change came into effect? Increased Repair Range? Increased Repair Amount? A Triage buff to allow control of the 5 fighters/drones you're able to deploy? The ability to control 5 additional fighters/drones if Triage Mode is activated? Less Cap needed for self rep/remote rep? (add what you believe would be a change worthy of the suggested drone change)
The carriers need to be carriers. In other words, lots of drones. To change this, the Devs should stop calling them carriers and call them capital logistics ships. Either way, they are still very useful. Maybe limit the number of fighters launchable to the numebr of people in the fleet? (making the fleet aspect needed and no solo-ing).
